Food tastes great when it has a story and we have a story to tell at The Deli. Although the deli has been here since 2007, Sally took over the reigns in October 2013. Whilst the term ‘foodie’ has become loosely associated with anyone who has so much as watched a Jamie programme, Sally is more than that, much more.  She is from food stock!

Her father, originally a farmer, owned a food factory in Buckinghamshire, where she would help out from an early age, learning about sourcing ingredients and pairing great flavours.  She then ran restaurants in both London & France before moving to the Pyrenees and immersing herself further in the incredible Spanish & French food culture they offered. The food landscape in the UK now is a far cry from having to drive miles and miles in the mid-90’s trying to source organic produce (not to mention how many of her friends laughed at her for going to such lengths … who is laughing now?)

Having returned to the UK, following a brief spell selling produce in the heavily food orientated County Cork, Sally ended up as a receptionist at a local GP surgery. Not the most obvious choice … so when the opportunity arose at The Deli she had to do everything in her power to make her life long dream a reality. Finally after years and years of people telling her she should sell her produce, she left the surgery on the Friday and opened the deli on the Monday morning.

The team all share Sally's passion for food, so come in say hello, browse the shelves, ask for our recommendations … we want you to love our deli too.
